A pilot reported seeing a strange cylinder hovering next to his wing in newly released audio from Air Traffic Control. The sighting took place above northern Rhode Island, where controllers on the ground were unable to identify the object. In the recording, the pilot described it as a "small silver canister" before ATC asked if it could be a balloon or drone.
"I saw nothing attached to it," the pilot replied. "It was sort of hovering there... It was astonishing. I don't know what it was." In response, the controller admitted that the situation was "creepy" and wished the pilot "good luck with the aliens!"
It's certainly not the first time an odd cylindrical object has been spotted in the skies. Coast to Coast posted this photo of one back in 2009, and just earlier this year there was a similar sighting over Montana.
