A small Spanish town is abuzz after a bizarre traffic stop had police running for cover. In a strange story related to tonight's show topic, a beekeeper unleashed his hive on unsuspecting officers after they pulled him over for erratic driving.
According to the local newspaper Segre, the incident occurred two weeks ago in the Catalonian community of Cervera. Highway patrol were on guard from the start when the 70-year-old apiarist started spewing threats and regrets, including, "I should have run you over." The cops proceeded to breathalyze him and determined he was driving under the influence; however, they had no idea what was coming next. "Now I'm going to kill you," the beekeeper exclaimed.
He then rushed to the back of his van and released hundreds of his honeybees, which stung the stunned officers numerous times. As the old man casually drove off, the patrolmen fled for cover at a nearby restaurant and were only able to track down the offender after calling for backup. The beekeeper was eventually released on bail, and a nearby hospital treated the swarm's victims with cortisol shots.
