Hosted byConnie Willis

In the first half, guest host Connie Willis (info) welcomed Maryelizabeth Clark, founder of The Club of Names, to discuss the significance and energy behind names. According to Clark, they are not just labels but carry deep meanings and associations that can influence one's identity and life experiences. She explained how her interest in this topic began during childhood when she was learning about the world's complex history and mix of cultures. Upon discovering the vast number of names searched online—over a billion daily, she claimed—Clark decided to create a website to help people easily research and understand the significance of their personal identifiers.

"Your name has a bit of alchemy in it," she noted, emphasizing the blend of science, philosophy, and a touch of magic involved in understanding names. They often reflect cultural and historical contexts, and Clark pointed out that trends have evolved significantly over the years. "Baby naming has become an exploding business," she stated, highlighting the modern responsibility parents feel in choosing the right name for their children. The Club of Names offers personalized consultations to help expectant parents select names that resonate with positive attributes and energies.

Clark pointed out how names affect various aspects of life, including professional branding and personal relationships. She explained that studies have shown people often base judgments on names, and that some may predispose individuals to certain paths in life. "Common names can affect your education and career choices," she added. Clark then provided insights into Connie's name, describing its historical ties to Ancient Rome and the emperor Constantine, and then informed callers of their names' energies and meanings in the second hour.
