Strange Encounters & Flow State / Power of Astrology

About the show

In the first half, guest host Lisa Garr (email) welcomed filmmaker and scientist Ron Meyer to discuss paranormal investigations and higher states of consciousness. Meyer began his career as a fossil collector with a deep curiosity about early life on Earth, yet his path shifted when he was hired to produce Chasing Bigfoot, a documentary series. His encounters with individuals who shared genuine Bigfoot experiences sparked his interest in the paranormal. "I could tell they weren't lying," he noted. "Some were terrified or confused... it was life-transforming."

However, he remained skeptical of the traditional explanation that Bigfoot was merely a physical primate, instead considering the possibility that Bigfoot could be a "paraphysical" entity—part physical, part ethereal, capable of phenomena such as disappearing or merging with trees. "It's almost like they're an avatar... something else," Meyer said. He then shared a personal Bigfoot encounter in Bailey, Colorado, near a tree sacred to the Ute people. During a group meditation, he saw a "shadow Bigfoot" presence behind his son-in-law, who also sensed the entity. Meyer described it as offering "no clear message, no frightening experience, just a presence."

He credited synchronicities—meaningful coincidences linking physical events with mental states—as a driving force in his investigations. Meyer described how a news feed about Sedona's vortexes led him to film at Bradshaw Ranch, a hotspot for paranormal activity akin to Skinwalker Ranch. He also shared his own experiences with altered states of consciousness, particularly flow states where the sense of self dissolves and "there's just the world." He described these states as varying in duration, sometimes lasting minutes or even a full day.

In the second half, astrologer and intuitive Madi Murphy marked the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing by discussing lunar cycles and astrology's historical and modern applications. Murphy, who calls herself a "friendly neighborhood cosmic consultant," blends astrology, psychology, and spirituality to help people decode their birth charts and "step into their magic." She emphasized astrology as a framework for self-awareness, offering what she calls "black and white receipts" that validate intuition. "You have this beautiful poetry through the planets that helps you understand what your soul is here to do," she said.

Murphy noted how historically, astrology and astronomy were intertwined, used for crop planting, political decisions, and even medical diagnoses, citing Hippocrates and Ronald Reagan's astrologer Joan Quigley as examples. She highlighted contemporary farming practices that use moon cycles to enhance crop growth, such as at vineyards in Sicily. Regarding the moon's recent activity, Murphy pointed to a build-up to a Leo New Moon on July 24, describing it as "celestial soil" that's ideal for planting intentions related to heart energy, creativity, and self-expression. She also discussed the recent transit of Uranus into Gemini on July 7, marking a seven-year period of innovation and communication breakthroughs.

Looking ahead, Murphy identified September 7-21 as a pivotal period featuring eclipses in Pisces and Virgo, calling them "huge moments where time can really speed up." These eclipses offer opportunities for rapid personal transformation, especially in healing and self-improvement. "If anybody is deep in a healing journey... those are going to be great dates to work with," she advised. She stressed the importance of surrender and trust during this accelerated period, noting that life's path is rarely linear.
